Logs For Chiminea's
The ideal log size for a chiminea is 8 inches. Because chimineas have narrow funnel necks and small, rounded bellies, using the wrong size wood can easily damage them or fill your garden with smoke.
Why 8-Inch Logs are Best for Chimineas
- Fits the opening: Chiminea mouth openings are small. An 8-inch log can be easily placed inside horizontally without jamming or sticking out of the front.
- Allows vital airflow: Chimineas draw air in through the front opening and pull it up through the top funnel. Small logs leave plenty of empty space around the sides for this airflow to circulate.
- Keeps the fire at the back: Logs must sit squarely in the centre or slightly back in the belly. If a log is too big, it sits too close to the front opening, which spits sparks and spills ash.
